Nigerians protest over their president’s health, demand his resignation
A group of Nigerians on Monday demonstrated in Abuja over the health of their president, Muhammadu Buhari.
The Punch in Nigeria reported that members of the group # OurMumuDonDo movement want their sick president to resign or return home immediately to resume his duties.
President Muhammadu Buhari left Nigeria for the United Kingdom over three months ago for a medical checkup.
Mr. Buhari last month said in a letter to President of Guinea, Alpha Conde that “Your Excellency (Conde) will be pleased to hear that I am making good progress and as soon as doctors advise I shall return to my duties and continue serving the Nigerian people who elected me and are daily praying for my recovery,” it read.
Buhari’s deputy, Yemi Osinbajo has been acting as president for months now.
Some Nigerians have also been placing bets on the return date of their president to Nigeria.
The betting company NaijaBet.com usually allows for betting on matches in English Premiership, Champions League and other sporting events.
The latest bet named the ‘Buhari to Return’ game said people “can bet on if he (Buhari) will return on the 2nd week of August or the 4th”
There are no indications when exactly the President will return home.
