The opposition leader in Kenya, Raila Odinga on Wednesday said he will challenge the August 8 election results in Court.

Mr. Odinga lost the presidential elections which was won by his rival the incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta but the National Super Alliance (Nasa) presidential candidate described that victory as “computer-generated”.

He told a news conference in Nairobi, that challenging the election results at the Supreme Court was partly informed by recent crackdown on some rights groups who have also questioned the credibility of the polls.

Odinga said “We will show the world how the figures were cooked and Uhuru Kenyatta declared the winner.”

“Kenyans will not agree to be led by computer-generated leaders,” Odinga added.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) last week declared Mr. Kenyatta winner of the polls after obtaining 8,203,290 votes, representing 54.27 per cent of the votes cast.

Mr Odinga, got 6,762,224 votes, representing 44.74 per cent of the votes cast, trailing behind his rival by 11 percent.

Mr. Odinga said the results posted on IEBC web portal, were “the work of a computer algorithm. Uhuru wasn’t supposed to be declared as the winner.”
