President Buhari to return home after sick leave in London

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari will return to his country on Saturday from London where he has spent months on a sick leave.

The president’s spokesman Femi Adesina said in a statement on Saturday that Mr. Buhari will also address Nigerians in a national broadcast on Monday following his return.

The President left Nigeria on May 7 for Britain for medical attention from an ailment his office has not disclosed.

His absence sparked series of protests from some Nigerians who demanded he returned home or resign.

Last week Mr. Buhari announced his readiness to return home saying in a statement that “I feel I could go home, but the doctors are in charge,” signaling that he was awaiting doctors approval to leave London for Nigeria.

Buhari at the time said, his health has seen “tremendous improvement”.

Betting companies even went further to allow for citizens to place bets on his return date to Nigeria.
