Grace Mugabe, wife of Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe has returned to Zimbabwe from South Africa where she had been accused of assaulting a 20 year old model in a hotel in Johannesburg.
South Africa’s international relations minister, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane in a notice published in the government’s Gazette on Sunday said “I hereby recognise the immunities and privileges of the First Lady of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Dr Grace Mugabe,”
Local media in Zimbabwe have reported that Mr. Mugabe and his wife arrived in Harare aboard an Air Zimbabwe plane on Sunday.

Earlier the South African police had issued an alert at boarders of the country to prevent Mrs. Mugabe from leaving the shores of South Africa.
On Friday there were reports Mrs. Mugabe will be granted a diplomatic immunity but the government quickly denied those reports.
President Mugabe had attended a South African Development Community (SADC) summit in Pretoria on Saturday, but his wife was missing from the delegation.

South Africa’s main opposition, the Democratic Alliance (DA) in a statement said “The DA will be demanding an immediate parliamentary inquiry into (the) government’s complicity in allowing Zimbabwean First Lady Grace Mugabe to flee the country in the dead of night to avoid criminal prosecution.”
