A car bomb attack in Somalia’s Mogadishu has claimed eight lives, local media reports.

The bomb explosion at a market in Wadajir district in Mogadishu also injured 15 people.

Local news portal Goobjoog News reports that the explosion destroyed the entire market in Kawa-Godey.

The portal’s reporter was quoted as saying that “Aamin Ambulance has confirmed to us that they have collected 8 bodies and ferried 15 injured people to the hospital”.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. But militant group, Al-shabaab is however known to usually carry out such attacks.

Earlier on Monday more than ten people were killed at a religious centre in central Somalia, according to police.

Police say gunmen from, al Shabaab attacked the religious centre. They killed a cleric and over nine of his followers.

Al-shabaab continues to attack parts of Somalia. Stopping the group’s activities has been a challenge for the Somalia government.
