Oscar Pistorius injured in prison brawl over “phone usage”

The South African former Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius who has been jailed for killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp has sustained injuries during a brawl in prison.

Officials in South African confirmed news of the brawl saying it happened due to disagreement over the use of a public phone.

The convicted murderer is serving a 13-year jail term.

The department of Correctional Services in South Africa said Oscar Pistorius sustained the injuries on December 6.

Spokesman for the services Singabakho Nxumalo said “Oscar Pistorius sustained a bruise following an alleged incident with another inmate over the use of a public phone in the special care unit where both offenders are detained at Attridgeville Correctional Centre,”

An official investigation has now been launched into the incident.

Pistorius is serving his jail term at the prison north of the capital Pretoria serving as detention centre for inmates with physical disabilities.
