Despite the majority of countries at the United Nations voting to reject Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as capital of Israel, Togo voted to back the US decision.

The West African nation was the only country that voted to support the US president’s announcement which attracted outrage across the world.

Derails of the votes passed at the UN showed that many African states including South Africa, Nigeria and Ethiopia all voted for the UN resolution.

Countries like Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda all abstained.

Mr Trump on Wednesday warned that his government might cut financial aid to states who voted in favour of the resolution.
