Local media reports that the blast was caused by an electrical fault on the car.

Reuters reports that a nearby building was also damaged in the blast.

Meanwhile on Sunday Egyptian troops and security forces said they killed at least 52 suspected militants in recent days.

The army said in a statement that the killings were part of efforts to push ahead with an operation to crush Islamic State.

The deaths mean that more than 300 suspected Islamist militants were killed in the operation that the Egyptian army, backed by police and other security forces, launched in February.
