The first lady of the United States, Melania Trump arrived in Ghana on Tuesday to begin her visit of Africa.

Last month Mrs. Trump revealed the African countries she intends visiting, namely Ghana, Malawi, Kenya and Egypt.

This is the first time Mrs. Trump is visiting Africa and she is doing so without her husband.

Melania Trump is expected to focus on humanitarian work and “development programmes being done in many of the countries”.

She described the four countries she is visiting as “four beautiful and very different” countries. The trip is part of her Be Best campaign.

The US first lady is hoping to improve child welfare, especially when it comes to online behaviour and addiction to opioids.

Many Africans were angry at President Trump this year when he was reported to have referred to the continent as a ”shithole”.

Many Africans do not consider President Trump a friend of the continent. But Donald Trump last week said his wife is “making a big trip to Africa.

We both love Africa. Africa is so beautiful, the most beautiful part of the world, in many ways.”
