Nigerian officials have confirmed the repatriation of some 121 Nigerians from Libya where they were stranded for months.
That brings the total number of those repatriated from the North African country to Nigeria to 2,638 since February this year.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Wednesday said another batch of 121 stranded Nigerians have returned home.
The Nigerian News Agency reported that the Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, Suleiman Yakubu, said that the agency received the 121 returnees from the officials of International Organization for Migration.
“The total returnees are 61 females and 60 males amongst them are two pregnant women and one with medical issues, he said adding that “One of the returnees, Ms Omolara Owoade, who hails from Apomu in Osun, claimed that she spent one year and two months in Libya.”
Many migrants get trapped in Libya where they are detained in prisons and molested in some cases. Some are even killed or trafficked.

Hundreds of migrants who failed to cross the Mediterranean have had to be repatriated in the past months to their countries with the support of the IOM.
