Officials at the White House in Washington have revealed that Monday’s talk between Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari and US President Donald Trump will focus on fighting terrorism and insecurity and economic growth.

The two leaders would also discuss democratic development in Nigeria ahead of presidential polls next year in Africa’s most populous nation.

Buhari would be the first African leader to be received by Trump’s White House administration after the US president made some damning remarks about African countries calling them “shithole” countries.

President Trump sacked his former secretary of state Rex Tillerson while touring Africa in March to strengthen ties between the two continents, a decision many considered appalling.
