Kenyans affected by recent evictions and demolitions on Wednesday staged a street protest calling for an end to these happenings.

Local media The Star reports that traders and city residents, whose houses have been demolished, demonstrated against forcible evictions.

Many of those who joined the demonstration have been affected by recent evictions and demolitions in Nairobi city.

Among those affected are small scale business people who operated in open air markets and residents of Kibera slum.

The government says those affected were occupying these places illegally while some of the areas are meant for major road constructions.
