Ugandan woman praised for disrupting tax meeting

A Ugandan woman has been praised for disrupting a state funded tax meeting in Kampala on Friday.

The meeting was being attended by tax experts and senior Ugandan government officials.

The woman identified as Nalongo Nana, a businesswoman is seen in a video berating what was being discussed at the meeting.

The video has been widely circulated on social media. The woman was reportedly angry at suggestions by some government officials at the meeting that leaders were supposed to be taken care of by the citizens and not the other way round.

In the video the woman is heard saying “Do you people think that we have no feelings. Are we not human beings?

“I came here after watching somebody who is a leader saying that we are supposed to take care of them. So who will take care of us?”

Reactions on social media

On social media, many lauded Nalongo for her bravery to disrupt the meeting.
