The former foreign affairs minister of Ghana is also to assume the role of the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative to the African Union.

Hanna Tetteh was appointed as the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Nairobi, Kenya in July.

At the time she succeeded Sahle-Work Zewde who had then been appointed as Special Representative to the African Union and Head of the United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU).

But Zewde in October became Ethiopia’s first female president rendering her role at the AU vacant. Hanna Tetteh was appointed by the UN Secretary General, António Guterres to fill the vacant job.
