Over 430 million Africans are living in extreme poverty needing urgent measures to reverse the situation, according to the World Poverty Clock.
The World Poverty Clock uses real-time data projections to show the poverty levels of countries around the world.
The clock also gives details of how individual countries are performing when it comes to fighting poverty.
For early September 2018 the World Poverty Clock reveals that several African countries are experiencing increasing rate of extreme poverty among citizens.
These countries include Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Niger, Burundi, Swaziland and Zambia
Other countries experiencing a rise in extreme poverty are, Angola, Chad and Central African Republic. The rest are Gabon, Somalia, Madagascar, Congo and South Sudan.
There were other countries making strides in reducing levels of extreme poverty among their citizens according to the poverty clock.
Countries like, Mauritania, Ghana and Ethiopia are set to escape poverty among citizens by 2030, according to the poverty clock.
There are several other countries said to be off track in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations.
Among those countries off-track are South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Sudan and Uganda.
Many African countries are experiencing economic challenges hindering efforts to eradicate poverty among citizens.
Civil war and activities of militant groups in some of these countries has left millions displaced and in dire need of food aid.
