US President Donald Trump these past couple of days has racially charged on some Democratic congresswomen asking them to go back to the countries they originally came from.

Trump targeted his racial tweets at four women who have criticized his policies in recent months.

He claimed the women “originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe”, before suggesting they “go back”.

Although he didn’t mention their names in his original tweet, it was obvious he was referring to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley.

Of the four congresswomen, three – Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib and Ayanna Pressley – were born and raised in the US, while the fourth, Ilhan Omar, moved to the US as a child from Somalia.

….and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run. Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how….

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 14, 2019

Trump further asked the four congresswomen to leave the USA if they were not happy.

We will never be a Socialist or Communist Country. IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY HERE, YOU CAN LEAVE! It is your choice, and your choice alone. This is about love for America. Certain people HATE our Country….

Response

The four US congresswomen on Monday dismissed Mr. Trump’s remarks as a distraction.

Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley and Rashida Tlaib urged the US people “not to take the bait”.

The four women – known as The Squad – rather want to focus the debate on policy and not the president’s words.

“This is simply a disruption and a distraction from the callous chaos and corrupt culture of this administration, all the way down,” Ms Pressley said.

And Ms Omar and Ms Tlaib have all repeated their calls for Mr Trump to be impeached.

There are however reports of Americans being angry at the President’s remarks but Mr. Trump has a history of making comments deemed racist.

In 2018 he denied claims that he is a racist despite calling African countries “shithole” during a meeting over immigration reforms in his country.

He reportedly made the comment in an outburst about immigrants from these countries in the White House.

“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” Mr Trump said to lawmakers on Thursday, according to the Washington Post.

His comments attracted a lot of outrage from Africa and across the world with the African politicians responding angrily to Mr. Trump describing him as a racist.

Make America great

The Trump administration is trying to limit the number of family members of immigrants who enter the US.

The administration also wants to end the protected status of thousands of immigrants already in the US.

The President has always said he wants to make “America Great Again”, a slogan that suggests America isn’t great like it used to be.

MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 15, 2019

It was Mr. Trump who sparked debates over Former President Barack Obama’s citizenship as an American.

He fueled the debate and cast doubt over Mr. Obama’s citizenship but later gave up after it was confirmed that Mr. Obama was born in America.

But Mr. Trump won an election in 2016 on the back of his slogan and promised to make America Great Again which included building a wall to prevent migrants including Africans from entering America illegally.

This country is so much better than this president. And next year we have a chance to prove it.

So what does his outburst including the tweets say about America?

Do they reflect how Americans really feel about their country being taken over by persons not deemed WHITE Americans?

For many around the world including Africans it may reflect how majority of Americans who claim to be WHITISH than other Americans feel.

If he eventually run for re-election next year and gets re-elected, it may signal to the world that after-all Americans are happy with him, either in performance or in pronouncements about taking back America from the so called FOREIGNERS.

May be, just may be that is how America feels, that the country must be for only WHITE Americans and nothing more.
