Egypt’s Africa Cup of Nations trophy missing

The Egyptian Football Association has said it can’t find the country’s Africa Cup of Nations trophy.

Egypt was given the trophy to keep after winning the Africa Cup of Nations three times in a row – in 2006, 2008 and 2010.

Officials said the trophy was discovered missing during work on a small museum at the association’s headquarters in Cairo.

Angry fan stormed the building in 2013 but officials can’t say when exactly the trophy disappeared.

Officials have now launched an investigation into the whereabouts of the trophy.

Egypt is the most successful country in the AFCON competition history winning the tournament a record of seven times.
