Nigeria government receives 700,0000 applications for 500 jobs

The government in Nigeria has said that it’s national tax authorities have been reviewing some 700,0000 applications for just 500 jobs.

The West African nation is struggling with an economic crisis and is unable to provide jobs its teeming unemployed youth.

Officials say more than 2000 of those who applied for the 500 jobs had first class university degrees.

Nigeria’s economy is struggling due to a slum in global oil prices. It recently entered into a period of recession.

The lack of job opportunities in Nigeria has been a major factor for the insecurity in parts of the country including the waves of attacks launched by Islamist group Boko Haram in northern Nigeria.

Unemployment stands at least 13% in Nigeria.
