This Day reported that a member of the House of Representatives from the Jigawa State, Mohammed Sani Zorro, made the proposal on Wednesday.
The house is expected to begin debating the proposed offer of a safe haven for Mr. Jammeh on Thursday.
The president of Nigeria, Mahamadu Buhari is leading a delegation to Gambia on Friday to try and resolve the political crisis in that country.
An earlier delegation from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to the Gambia last year failed to get Jammah to agree to step down when his tenure ends.
The embattled president has vowed to stay on until the Supreme Court in his country hears his election petition challenging the election results.
Should the court begin hearing the petition next week, it is expected to rule on it by May.
