The President of the Gambia Adama Barrow is visiting Senegal for a three-day official visit from Thursday, his first foreign trip since becoming President.
Mr. Barrow took his oath of office in Senegal on January 20 after seeking refuge in the country following the refusal of now exiled leader Yahya Jammeh to leave office peacefully.
The Minister of Communication at the Senegalese Presidency, Elhadji Hamidou Kassé, announced the foreign trip by Mr. Barrow on Wednesday.
President Barrow will hold a meeting with his Senegalese counterpart Macky Sall on Thursday before both leaders address the media.
Mr. Barrow who will return to the Gambia on Saturday will hope to have economic and diplomatic partnership agreements signed between the two countries.
The Gambian President recently invited Senegal’s Macky Sall to the Gambia Independence Day celebration last month as the guest of honour.
