Kenya’s Odinga treated for food poisoning

One of Kenya’s prominent politicians and main opposition figure, Raila Odinga has been treated for food poisoning at a hospital.

Reuters reported that his spokesman confirmed the incident which occurred on Wednesday.

Denis Onyango told Reuters that Mr. Odinga “…was treated for normal food poisoning earlier today [Wednesday] and he is back home,”

Mr. Odinga is said not to be severely ill. The 72 year old politician is expected to run for president in August in an election that the incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to also run.

Mr. Odinga has formed a new opposition coalition with three other parties for the upcoming elections to pick lawmakers and regional authorities.
