Tanzanian MP shot, Magufuli ‘prays’ for his recovery

A senior Tanzanian member of parliament, Tundu Lissu was shot on Thursday by unknown assailants and has been admitted at a health post in Nairobi, Kenya where he is receiving medical attention.

Tundu Lissu who is the Chief Whip of the opposition in Parliament was shot in the stomach and leg.

The President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Isaac Okero was quoted by Daily Nation as saying that Lissu who is President of the Tanzanian bar association arrived in Nairobi from Dodoma on Thursday. 

 “We understand he’s still in critical condition. Members of the East African Law Society will be visiting him today (Friday) in the afternoon,” Mr Okero said.

Tanzania’s President John Magufuli has said he is “saddened” by the shooting of the opposition MP. “I’ve been saddened by the gun attack on Tundu Lissu, I’m praying to Almighty God that he may recover soon,” Magufuli said.
