The Nigerian government is to get $1 billion to fight the activities of the militant group, Boko Haram.
State governors in Nigeria approved the release of the money which is to come from revenue accruing from oil sale.
The Nigerian government has struggled to address the activities of Boko Haram which has displaced millions of people and resulted in the death of hundreds.
Last week the Nigerian army chief leading the fight against the insurgency of Boko Haram was sacked by the leadership of the country’s military command.
Major General Ibrahim Attahiru was sacked following series of attacks over the past months with the major attack taking place in the town of Mubi in Adamawa state.
The new general leading the charge to combat Boko Haram is Nicholas Rogers.
President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the war against Boko Haram had been won, but bomb attacks continue to take place in the northeastern part of Nigeria and in neighbouring countries.
