The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump has reportedly launched a scathing attack on African countries, Haiti and El Salvador calling them “shithole countries”.

He reportedly made the comment in an outburst about immigrants from these countries in the White House. “Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” Mr Trump said to lawmakers on Thursday, according to the Washington Post.

President Trump before coming into office promised to deal with immigration and was holding series of meetings to agree on an immigration deal.

The Trump administration is trying to limit the number of family members of immigrants who enter the US. The administration also wants to end the protected status of thousands of immigrants already in the US.

The Washington Post further quoted Donald Trump to have said “Why do we need more Haitians? Take them out.”

The White House has not denied that the President made those comments but in a statement the  White House spokesman Raj Shah said “Certain Washington politicians choose to fight for foreign countries, but President Trump will always fight for the American people.”

The statement said “Like other countries that have merit-based immigration, President Trump is fighting for permanent solutions that make our country stronger by welcoming those who can contribute to our society, grow our economy and assimilate into our great nation.”

“He will always reject temporary, weak and dangerous stopgap measures that threaten the lives of hardworking Americans, and undercut immigrants who seek a better life in the United States through a legal pathway” the statement said.

There have been global condemnation to Trump’s latest comment.
