The two leading presidential candidates for the 2019 elections in Nigeria, have launched their manifestoes.
Incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari launched his manifesto over the weekend and Atiku Abubakar from the opposition did his on Monday.
The manifestoes contain details of the plans the two leading candidates intend executing when voted into power.
Nigerian opposition candidate Atiku Abubakar said on Monday that he intends investing $90 billion annually in infrastructure over the next 5 years.
Atiku Abubakar also intends boosting investment in the oil sector should he win the February presidential race.
Mr. Buhari on the other hand said he intends pursuing his anti-corruption agenda. He promised to fight corruption during his first term.
Many analysts say that fight has been daunting for President Buhari.
“We are committed to deepening the work we started this first term such that the nation’s assets and resources continue to be organised and utilised to do good for the common man,” Buhari said at the manifesto launch.
President Buhari also said Nigeria has a chance to make “a break from its tainted past which favoured an opportunistic few”.
Abubakar from the opposition PDP is hoping to convince voters to help him unseat President Muhammadu Buhari.
President Buhari and Mr. Abubakar used to be allies in the past but Abubakar, a former vice president defected from the ruling party recently.
