Some Tunisians have been held street protests against the visit of the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman.

The protesters were joined by journalists and human rights activists who are unhappy with Mohammed bin Salman’s visit on Tuesday.

The protests started on Monday and have continued into Tuesday.

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is accused of ordering the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The Washington Post columnist was killed at Riyadh’s consulate in Istanbul, Turkey last month.

The killing of Khashoggi attracted global anger and condemnation. Mohammed Bin Salman and the Saudi Arabia government has denied any role in the journalist’s death.

The protesters on Monday held pamphlets calling for “Freedom for Saudi women”. Some of the pamphlets also read “Bin Salman, you are murderer Number 1”.

Soukaina Abdessamad from the journalists’ union in Tunisia told local reporters that “The Tunisian revolution… cannot agree to receive him (bin Salman) and allow him to clean himself (with his visit) of a murder.

We will stage protests on Monday and Tuesday.”
