Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday held talks with the country’s former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Thursday’s meeting took place after Jonathan paid an unscheduled visit to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Both leaders then held a brief meeting which is reported to have lasted for about 10 minutes and took place behind closed doors.

According to local media ex-president Jonathan’s reason for visiting the villa was unknown.

But the ex-leader reportedly undertook a “thank you” visit to the president after Buhari consoled him over an attack on his country home, Otuoke, Bayelsa.
