Kenya’s government has now suspended all public gatherings after the country recorded its first case of coronavirus.

Church services are however not affected by the suspension but churches are expected to provide hand-sanitisers.

The minister of health, Mutahi Kagwe said schools will also remain open but inter-school activities will remain suspended.

Kagwe however said there was “no cause for alarm” while urging for “serious citizen responsibility”.

Kenya’s government spokesperson Cyrus Oguna has also stated that a ban has been placed on all non-essential travel by public servants.

The government has also advised citizens not to travel to avoid contracting coronavirus.

Many African countries are now taking precautionary measures to contain the spread of the disease.

But relatively Africa’s number of infection is still a very small number compared to other countries outside the continent.
