Chad’s President Idriss Deby Itno approved for an official jet to be sent to Madagascar for the much talked about herbal remedy for coronavirus.

Covid-Organics, is the herbal drug developed by officials in Madagascar and has been touted by the President Andry Rajoelina as effective in preventing and treating coronavirus.

Despite skepticism from the World Health Organization, more African countries are going in for the drug.

On Saturday Rajoelina said in a tweet that “With respect to CovidOrganics, Madagascar is with his African brothers to heal and save lives. Our duty is to preserve the health of our people.

“Chad sent a plane to collect CVO donations. Thanks to President Idriss Deby Itno for his confidence.”

Rajoelina tweeted pictures of an official Chadian plane that arrived in Antananarivo to take delivery of the Covid-Organics.

Tanzania also on Friday took delivery of COVID-Organics, as part of a donation from Madagascar.

Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo also received their donations while Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau have also taken delivery.

Madagascar also donated the herbal drug to ECOWAS countries through Guinea Bissau but ECOWAS commission on Thursday shied away from it.

In a statement in Abuja, the ECOWAS Commission said “We wish to disassociate ECOWAS and its health institution, West Africa Health Organisation (WAHO), from this claim and inform the general public that we have not ordered the said CVO medication.”

“We are aware that several claims of COVID-19 cure have been made in different parts of the world, but we can only support and endorse products that are effective through scientific study,” the statement added.
