Mauritius has committed to helping Ghana streamline measures to improve its ‘Ease of Doing Business’ index.

The Island nation currently tops Africa on the World Bank’s ‘Doing Business 2017’ report.

The Doing Business 2017 report, titled ‘’Equal Opportunity for All’, placed Ghana at 108 out of 190 countries surveyed in the Overall Ranking of Ease of Doing Business – an improvement from 111 in the previous report.

In sub-Saharan Africa, Ghana ranked in the Top 10, coming 9th, out of the 47 countries ranked in the region.

The West African country is not happy about its standing, as its new government aims to attract more investors to revamp the economy.

On a recent state visit to Mauritius, led by Ghana’s Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Council, Yoofi Grant, brokered an agreement to have some Ghanaians under study Mauritius officials in the bid to better Ghana’s Doing Business Index.

Speaking to Journalists in Accra, Mr. Yoofi Grant mentioned that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Board of Investment in Mauritius has been signed to facilitate the move.

“At some point we would expect some of our officers to go to Mauritius to build capacity and understand how they were able to transform. They on the other hand will bring some people here to help us with training and help us with visioning; it’s not that we don’t have a vision, we do have a vision but you also want to compare what you are doing and what you are planning to do to what others have done and succeeded” Mr. Grant said.
