Thousands of South Africans on Wednesday marched from Church Square in Pretoria to the Union Buildings to demand the exit of President Jacob Zuma.

Wednesday’s march is coming days after similar protests were staged across South Africa.

The protests named #NationalDayofAction are being led by members of opposition parties and civil organisations.

Jacob Zuma, is celebrating his 75th birthday on Wednesday and has already survived several attempts to impeach him.

Vote of no-confidence motions have failed to pass in the South African Parliament after MPs from the African National Congress (ANC) voted against the motion.

Another vote is expected to take place next week also seeking to get Mr. Zuma out of power.

These intensified calls for his exit are coming in the wake of the sacking of Pravin Gordhan as his finance minister.
