Somali woman stoned to death for polyandry

Members of the militant group al-Shabab have stoned a Somali woman to death accusing her of engaging in polyandry.

The woman is accused by the group of marrying eleven men at the same and didn’t divorce previous husbands.

The woman, Shukri Abdullahi Warsame is reported by local media in Somalia to have been buried with her neck-deep in the ground and pelted with stone by some men.

The incident took place in the town of Sablale town in the Lower Shabelle region.

Warsame was convicted of the said crime in a court run by the militant Islamist group.

In 2014, another woman was also stoned to death by the same militant group which operates a strict Islam law.

The said woman was also accused of secretly marrying four husbands in the southern coastal district of Barawe.
