A mob in Ghana’s Bono Ahafo region has attacked a police station, freeing four suspects who were in custody.

Starr FM reported that the mob made up of residents from the town of Sene invaded the police headquarters at another town called Kwame Danso, beating up officers.

The residents were angry at the decision of the police to arrest some of their colleagues for attacking some Sisala indigenes in the area and destroying their properties last week.

The police arrest was as a result of the disturbances and part of efforts to restore order to the area while investigating the incident.

One of the suspects arrested by the police which angered the residents was a local chief of the Sene community.

Local media reported that the irate residents have also kidnapped two police officers.

Ghana has in recent times experienced pockets of such attacks on police stations with some security analysts considering the trend worrying.
