Rioting youth in Nigeria set court building on fire

A group of irate youth in Nigeria’s Imo State has reportedly set a court building in the town of Olru on fire.

15 of these youth in a chaotic way set the Magistrates’ Court on fire destroying all documents.

Local media, Punch reports that police have now launched an investigation into the incident.

The Police spokesperson in the state, Andrew Enwerem, confirmed the incident to the local newspaper.

Police say they consider the incident a suspected case of arson. The fire has however been quenched.

There are fears the incident might affect court cases due to the extent of destruction to documents.

The Magistrates’ Court that was set on fire is located within the premises hosting the Orlu High court.
