Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has strongly rejected claims by his wife, Aisha that his government is controlled by a cabal.

Aisha Buhari told BBC-Hausa that her husband was under the control of some powerful individuals she called a cabal.

Mrs. Buhari alleged that these powerful individuals are dictating how Nigeria should be run, something she dislikes.

In that BBC interview Aisha said that her husband “does not know 45 out of 50 of the people he appointed and I don’t know them either, despite being his wife of 27 years”.

“Some people are sitting down in their homes folding their arms only for them to be called to come and head an agency or a ministerial position,” she added.

Mrs. Aisha Buhari even threatened not to vote for her husband if the trend continued.

But in response to these claims by his wife, President Buhari told Voice of America, Hausa that his wife must back her claims with evidence.

“That’s her business and it shows I am a true democrat by allowing everybody to have an opinion,” Buhari said. He further challenged “those alleging to show single evidence.”

President Buhari in the past had ignored criticisms from his wife saying she “belongs to my kitchen”. That statement from Mr. Buhari attracted a lot of criticisms.
