The late former president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe reportedly left behind $10 million in his bank account together with other properties.
State media Herald newspaper on Tuesday published the list of Mugabe’s estate but indicated there was no will to distribute the properties.
The newspaper listed some of the properties left behind to include: four houses, 10 cars, one farm, his rural home and an orchard.
Mugabe’s daughter Bona Chikowore in October wrote to the Master of High Court seeking to register her father’s estate.
Since there was no will, law firms have now been asked to establish if the late former President had not left a will.
“Kindly register the estate. Thus far, we have not been able to locate a will, but have sent out enquiries to other law firms, although the family members are not aware of any.
“In this regard, perhaps the estate may be treated as intestate for now,” reads a letter written by the Mugabe family lawyer Mr Terrence Hussein to law firms.
Mugabe died in Singapore on September 6 this year after battling prostate cancer for at least 13 years.
He has since been laid to rest in his hometown rural village of Kutama.
Row over burial
The former President who died at the age of 95 was interred at his Kutama Mission homestead in Zvimba alongside his late mother, Bona, and brothers — Albert and Donato.
The burial of Mugabe’s body delayed after a state funeral was held on September, 14 because of a row over his resting place.
The Zimbabwean government had insisted that the remains of the ex-President be interred at the Heroes Acre – a national monument and burial ground.
But the family has opposed the decision, insisting that was not the wish of Mr. Mugabe.
Mugabe led Zimbabwe to independence in 1980 and ruled the country for 37 years until he resigned in November 2017.
Robert Mugabe first served as prime minister of Zimbabwe from 1980 to 1987 and then as president from 1987 to 2017.
