A new study by the East African group Twaweza has shown that majority of Kenyans support are largely in favour of the closure of Dadaab refugee camp.

The findings also revealed that Kenyans support the withdrawal of Kenyan forces from Somalia.

The survey puts the figure of Kenyans supporting such an action at 70 % with some 53% hoping for these troops to be deployed to Kenya’s borders.

The survey released by the group on its website also shows that a further 9% of Kenyans want the troops to return home.

These details were revealed in the findings of Twaweza, in a research brief titled The roots of radicalization: Citizens’ views on the causes and solutions for insecurity in Kenya.

The group says its findings were based on data from Africa’s first nationally representative high-frequency mobile phone survey.

The data was collected from 1,801 respondents across Kenya in August and September 2016.
