The Nigerian security agency has announced on Wednesday that it prevented planned attacks on embassies belonging to the British and United States by Boko Haram militants.

The planned attacks were to take place on these embassies in the country’s capital, Abuja.

In a statement, the Department of State Services (DSS) said five suspected members of Boko Haram were arrested in Benue state between March 25 and 26.

The statement said “The group had perfected plans to attack the UK and American Embassies and other western interests in Abuja.”

Another suspect arrested last month according to the statement also confessed the plot.
