The wife of President Muhammadu Buhari has said that her husband’s health status is not that bad as many perceive.

In a message on her Facebook account, Aisha Buhari said “I wish to inform everyone that his health is not as bad as it’s being perceived.”

She also thanked Nigerians who continue to pray for her husband’s recovery saying “I thank all Nigerians for their concern, love and prayers over my husband’s health status.”

On Monday civil society groups in Nigeria asked the Nigerian President to take a medical leave.

In an open letter to Mr. Buhari the leaders of the civil society groups asked the 74-year-old leader to rest more to recover from his illness.

The leaders said “We are compelled to advise him to heed the advice of his personal physicians by taking a rest to attend to his health without any further delay.”

Aisha Buhari said her husband “continues to carry out his responsibilities during this period.”

President Buhari recently returned from a medical vacation in Britain and announced that he needed more time to recover.

Last month his office announced that the President will work from his home as he continues to recover.
