Controversial Wabantu invited to Zimbabwe for a carnival

The controversial South African dancer, Zodwa Wabantu will have to wear panties if she intends going to Zimbabwe where she is billed to participate in a government event.

She is expected to take part in an International Carnival hosted by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) in September.

The week long festival will take place in Harare and will feature at least 10 samba girls from Brazil and nearly 20 Cuban dancers‚ with Zodwa Wabantu the headline act.

The Sowetan Live quoted the head of corporate affairs at ZTA, Sugar Chagonda as saying that Wabantu “is going to be one of the star attractions at the samba night on September 6. She’s popular in the region and through her we want to target regional tourists.”

But the popular and controversial celebrity will have to give in to the demands of the Zimbabwean officials if she wants to be par of the carnival.

“I hope she will have her panties. If she cannot perform in panties then we don’t want her because chiefs (traditional leaders) will not like it‚” ZTA’s Chief Executive Officer Karikoga Kaseke told journalists at a press conference.

Zodwa from Durban, South Africa shot to fame after admitting that she doesn’t like wearing underwear.
