Kenya’s President, Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday gave the 23 year old Kenyan who recently won a parliamentary seat in the Kenya general elections a brand new car after promising to do so last month.

The university student, John Paul Mwirigi who is at Mt Kenya University beat other seasoned politicians in the contest by standing as an independent candidate for Igembe South.

He becomes the youngest MP in Kenya but had to campaign on foot since he could not afford proper means of transportation.

He was quoted by the Daily Nation to have said that “I had a dream where I was tabling a motion in Parliament while I was in Form three. That is when I started asking my fellow students to start campaigning for me since I would need their vote in 2017.”

Nairobi News reported that Mwirigi thanked the President for the gift and said the vehicle will enable him serve his constituents better.
