A Zimbabwean pastor has decided to contest the country’s general election next year in an attempt to challenge President Robert Mugabe who he prophesized would die in October.

The Pastor, Philip Mugadza according to local media New Zimbabwe.com, is planning to run as an independent candidate for the parliamentary seat of Gutu south in Masvingo province.

He would be running in an area considered the stronghold of Mr. Mugabe’s political party, the Zanu-PF.

Mugadza said that he was tired of writing letters and petitions to Mugabe without any response.

He is quoted as saying that “Time to complain is over; I have seen many people suffering for the last two decades, and now it’s time to meet him and his party in parliament. I have tried to raise these issues with Mugabe but his attitude shows he doesn’t care”.

Due to financial constraints, Pastor Mugadza would be campaigning using bicycles.

He was arrested this year after he prophesized that the country’s president who is 93 years old and has been ruling for decades would die on October 17 which did not happen.

Mugadza in 2015 also staged a one-man protest against President Mugabe.
