A member of parliament in South Africa, Sibusiso Radebe has been shot dead.

The African National Congress MP was killed on Tuesday night, according to his party.

Local media reports that the MP was shot in Roodepoort, Gauteng.

“It did happen… we are sending a statement now,” ANC chief whip Jackson Mthembu told News24.

Who killed Radebe?

Police are currently searching for two people who are suspected of killing the MP.

A police spokeswoman is quoted as saying that “the deceased was with another person in a vehicle parked in Carbon Street, Lindhaven.”

The police officer further said that “two suspects allegedly approached the vehicle and opened fire, fatally wounding the deceased.”

The person who was with the MP however managed to escape uninjured, according to police officials

Officials are still unable to provide any motive for the killing.

Sibusiso Radebe was 40 years old and served on the portfolio committee on transport.
