At least nine people have been killed in an attack on a Somali ministry in the capital Mogadishu.
All three attackers who launched a siege on the interior ministry on Saturday were also killed by state forces.
A police official Mohamed Hussein told the AFP that dozens of people were rescued in the nearly two-hour operation.
The siege followed a suicide car bomber detonating at the ministry gate. More than 10 people were wounded in the attack.
The Somalia-based al-Shabaab extremist group claimed responsibility for the attack.
Reuters also reports of a suicide car bombing near Somalia’s presidential palace and another blast outside a police station.
An emergency services official was quoted by Reuters as saying that “In the first phase, we carried 13 injured people from near the two blast scenes.”
Somalia continues to struggle with activities of terrorist groups like al-Shabaab which has wrecked havoc for years.
