Ghana: Kidnapped Canadians rescued

The two Canadian women who were recently kidnapped in Ghana have been rescued by the Police.

The rescue comes after the Canadian authorities sent security personnel to assist their Ghanaian counterparts in rescuing them.

Africa Feeds sources say the Canadians have been transported to the national capital Accra and are in good health.

At least two people have been arrested over the crime.

The Canadians who are on an exchange programme in Ghana’s second largest city Kumasi were abducted last week.

Kidnapping and terror alerts

The UK and Canadian government’s have issued terror alerts to their citizens traveling to Ghana or those residing in the West African nation in the wake of the kidnapping of the Canadians.

The Australian government is the latest to also do same pledging 75,000 Australian Dollars to assist with anti -terrorism operations in Ghana.

The government of Ghana has dismissed the terror alerts and has asked it’s citizens not to panic.

Takoradi kidnapped girls still missing

Meanwhile, the three teenage girls who were kidnapped in Takoradi in Western Ghana in 2018 have still not been found.

Ghana recorded 64 kidnapping cases in 2018, 23 of which were true kidnapping cases and 28 of which were abductions.
