Ghana’s Football Association has announced the sacking of Kwesi Appiah as the coach of the senior national team, the black stars.
The GFA said in a statement on Thursday that it has also “dissolved the technical teams of all national teams with immediate effect.”
In a press statement published on its website the GFA said the decision dissolve technical teams of all national teams “affects both male and female national teams.”
“The GFA extends its appreciation to all coaches and members of the respective national teams for their contributions to our national teams and Ghana football. We wish them all the best in their endeavors,” the statement concluded.

James Kwesi Appiah was re-appointed as the coach of the Black Stars in 2017 and was tasked to qualify the team to the 2018 world cup in Russia and also win the 2019 African cup of nations.
Both targets were missed though but it is understood the latest move by the GFA was expected after a new set of leaders were elected to manage the country’s football.
In 2019, Ghanaian football star, Asamoah Gyan told local media that Kwesi Appiah was not in charge of affairs during the Africa Cup of Nations tournaments in Egypt.
The Black Stars of Ghana exited the completion after losing to Tunisia at the round of 16 dashing the country’s hope of ending its 37 year drought.
Before the tournament, Gyan decided to quit the team after he was stripped of the captaincy.
He only rescinded that decision after the country’s President, Nana Akufo Addo intervened.
