Several people are injured in clashes between supporters of Ghana’s two major political parties in one of the suburbs of the capital Accra.

It is unclear what triggered the clashes between the supporters of the ruling NPP and the opposition NDC at a constituency called Odododiodio.

The area is one of the over four thousand flash points for electoral violence identified by Ghana’s Police service with a few weeks to the country’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

Local media reports suggest that the opposition party supporters were embarking on a health walk when the clashes occurred.

Viral videos show irate supporters throwing stones, bottles and other items at their opponents.

A video also showed supporters of one party throwing stones into the offices of their opponents.

Police in the area have not made any arrests as investigations begin into the cause of the latest clashes.

Meanwhile some supporters of the opposition NDC have stormed a police station in the Ashanti Region to demand the arrest of some 10 party members arrested by the police.
