Sierra Leone to project African culture with a Fashion week

The Sierra Leone fashion week [SLFW] held in Freetown is schedule to take place from the 23rd to the 27th April with a Red Carpet welcome at the luxurious and newly remodelled Mamba Point Lagoonda Entrainment complex.

The event is dedicated to promoting African fashion on the global stage and diversifying the fashion industry around the world.

The CEO of the Fashion week, Tiah Knox talks about the main motive behind the event.

Why this Fashion week?

With 12 years’ experience in the fashion industry, from a top plus size model to the first African winner of Miss Full Figure USA.  I have worked in the corporate fashion world.

The motive behind the SLFW is to give Sierra Leoneans a platform to showcase their artistic qualities by presenting their Brands which may include Fashionable clothing, jewelleries, accessories and it is to set the pace for high-class fashion industry that will attracts investment from companies, by exposing international investors to the country’s fashion and tourism sector. However, participant shall be able to network and market with likeminded individuals who seek a new audience for their brands.

What should participants hope to gain or benefit by taking part in the Sierra Leone Fashion Week?

The opportunities are endless, don’t just focus on the money aspect but focus on the opportunity to showcase your talent and people shall see you for marketing and promotion. With international promotion and market exposure models shall be provided with the opportunities like business Cards and Portfolios to enhance their professional image.

Participants in the Sierra Leone Fashion Week events shall gain exposure of their brand as the event shall be filmed and presented in future marketing campaigns. Models shall have access to work with sponsors to gain partnership which may include internship to work with them.
