Tanzania: Six school kids killed in explosion

An explosion at a basic school close to Tanzania’s border with Burundi has left at least six school kids dead, in Kihinga village.

Local media has reported that more than 20 others sustained serious injuries in the explosion at the primary school.

According to the BBC, the pupils were killed after an object they were playing with exploded at the school.

Three children died on the spot. Health officials say 25 people are receiving treatment with Hospital doctor Maria Goreth Fredricks saying that three children died while undergoing treatment.

The Kagera regional police commander Augustine Orome confirmed that detectives have been dispatched to the school to investigate the incident.
