Five people have died in a plane crash in Madagascar’s capital Antananarivo.
The plane crash occurred on Monday with officials saying those killed were the only people on board.
The Civil Aviation of Madagascar said in a statement that the cause of the accident is yet unknown.
“The light aircraft, belonging to the airline MTA, was victim of an accident … for reasons that are still under investigation,” the Aviation authority said.
Who owns the aircraft?
The private Piper PA 31 aircraft is operated by Madagascar Trans Air. The plane crashed in the western suburbs of the town.
The statement said “Unfortunately, all the occupants died in this accident,”
“A regulatory investigation was launched by the Civil Aviation Accident and Incident Investigation Bureau team,” the aviation authority further said in the statement.
Local media reported that the plane was undertaking a training session around the airfield of the main airport in Antananarivo.
